I've always had a soft corner for independent films. Maybe because they're born out of genuine passion, belief in an idea, and the stubbornness to bring it to life. #Impure, which I watched this week, is one such film. Link: https://t.co/wnd4V7hPPu An English-language film set in a Telugu family, where the characters, emotions and situations feel surprisingly familiar. With the subject it deals with, the film could have easily become preachy. But I loved how naturally and organically it unfolds. It doesn't tell us what to feel. It lets us feel. I particularly liked Sandhya. She's not someone who always knows what to do. She has her own dreams, doubts, insecurities and struggles to balance what she wants with what others expect from her. That makes her feel so real and relatable. The characters aspiring to become an actor and an influencer, their little struggles and the way their journeys evolve are also beautifully handled. And the parents! ❤️ I genuinely loved how they're written. By the end, I had so much affection for them. My appreciation to Varahi Mallipamula, director Nishanthi Evani, Yashna Muthuluri, Sai Krishna and the entire team. The film has very limited screenings in Hyderabad, and I hope more people discover it. I strongly believe word of mouth is the biggest hero of independent cinema. We've seen many small films find their audience through genuine appreciation, and I hope #Impure does too. If you get a chance, please watch it in theatres and let me know how you feel. Sometimes, giving a small film a chance is all it takes to encourage someone who's holding on to a big dream. ❤️ #ReviewKaadhuRequest #Impure #PlsWatch

Purity doesn't lie in what you assume it is or what "societal norms" determine it to be. When your heart is filled with trash and the need for validation, you end up feeling #Impure. The movie tries to convey this message through a disjointed and highly incohesive script that feels like it wanted to be bold, but ended up being unintentionally funny, even at moments when it needed to shine. The Tinglish approach used to make it feel international actually becomes its drawback. #YashnaMuthuluri showcases promise in her portions, but the entire movie suffers from repetitive ideas being narrated from the same "closeted" point of view that it actually tries to break free from.

Guardians of the Two Holy Mosques This is the #impure Pakistani military, which, to deceive people, sometimes calls itself the “Guardians of the Two Holy Mosques” and at other times refers to itself as the “Army of Allah.” But in #reality , they are nothing but #alcohol drinkers, people steeped in #filth , and #adulterers.

My friend isn’t in the country and the air feels different. I only like it when I’m breathing the same country air as her. Everything else feels #impure.
