@AdrianDittmann @DARPA @ChinaUSProperty And @RmitScience NO THERE IS NO COMPUTER SCIENCE SCHOOL AT RMIT OR STANFORD, we shut them down: Prof. Knuth, Prof. Balbin and Melbourne #InfoRec.
And there is no cyber war because #DEFSW2 is gone.
We should have a renaming ceremony.
Not Amphitheatre Pkwy.
Now Das Fvk Vous #InfoRec way.
Party on.

@LulzClumsy Fvk Vous #InfoRec homework:
- Implement a splay tree, test small + big dataset
- write a crawler then a "Mercator Queue"
- learn all the distance metrics defined in Data Mining, Han & Kamber. Pay attention to Levenshtein/City Block Distance vs. Euclidean Distance.

Hey ACM, I’d love another @TheOfficialACM #InfoRec something at some point. So over these Melbourne #InfoRec idiots, and I do like Vatican Vertical inforec.
The records management situation in terms of US and Stanford interference is quite dire, and if RMIT are more softcock I’m going to spew. Melbourne University are being boring as usual, have had 1/2 good interactions with uwe - I do think we should have more.
I do have an issue with a https://t.co/tIe6J3XePq cable violating our sovereignty and our concept of border quite significantly, I do think Uwe could address it if we could talk.
All of these problematic events are temporally aligned to your NSC visiting Canberra with NO BRTISH ESCORT, accompanied by Lowey institute CEO.
And these Ericsson SS7 switches.
Can you please investigate urgently. I don’t think Books are Books anymore. Did you have a memo from Xerox or HE relating to books or cybersecurity? I’m dropping the “cyberpunk” adjective, keeping “Cypherpunks” and adding “information warfare” to my what I do. Please let me know if you have anything on file.
This is my only safe channel, in clear text.
I would like to do face to face meetings as usual, as they do always work. But Australia has me locked up in my home under house arrest which is clearly not the Aussies so I’m very much stateless right now. Please contact @ohchr @StealthMedical1, I do have a file open in Geneva. Please don’t expect me to do their work for them, I’m quite a significant computer scientist and it would be inappropriate. A quick telephone or Cisco video interview over potable laptop from UN Australia would be sufficient. Then pls brief UN General Assembly & Council. I don’t think limiting CS to UN IGF works - it appears ISIC & ISOC have taken over and how could I possibly get to Middle East ? Do you realise how far it is?
#ConpSci will not ever be interacting with security council, veto never works, and in this day and age I think Cave Clan should get final veto.
I think #CompSci, #EE and #ChangeManagement should answer to General Assembly, and we vote on Information Security & Controls on a straight vote basis.
I do think markets, globalisation and capitalism/contagion need to answer to you as well, but not in nyc.
Have you considered visiting Australia? Can you possibly talk to my PM here and get a health check on the nation and empire?
If there is a problem we may need to lean in, I’m sure we could get things fixed in a jiffy. We are Silicon Valley.
Please ask USA to stop stealing our homework or vandalising Silicon Valley or Australia.
The global cyber security help desk I setup for you in Australia has been compromised significantly and very deep storage detective controls have just gone off. Please stop USA from stealing more homework in RMIT name.
And I am RMIT University. Please understand the difference between tech, trade and university; practical, applied and theoretical.
And Police Unions are doing the communist union thing again. Please speak to Vatican. NYC docks & SF docks not accessible to ACM. Perhaps try shipping? Watch out for intelligence.
Please declare Ericsson AXE SS7 an invalid minicomputer design urgently to be disconnected from all regulated industries immediately, spare no expense. SPARE BOBEXPENSE.
PS. Please put Server Masters and my family (all) on dignitaries list. They are useful no matter what, but tell them they answer to CS and provide a channel to them via ACM.

hey @ACMawards @TheOfficialACM can you please award the next Turing to Melbourne #InfoRec and get Rachel Griffiths and Cyrus to accept it on behalf of all of us? We really have contributed a lot and very few of us have ever been paid. Just for being awesome.
Cyrus did get his mum killed by CIA and his character smeared for detecting the inforec problem in AltaVista. The rest of us would like to stay unidentified thanks.

This was tech boom 1.0 for me. Fuck IPOs, just heavy duty compute, massive particle simulations, supermassive parallel compute across giant single system footprint SGI systems using shared LUNs on FC/AL with my own locking and a bit of #InfoRec on the side.
.\p
PS. If anyone ever saw the empty office with one empty desk next to the founders office @ Googleplex 3 (i.e., the old SGI campus) many many months after the float - that was reserved as my office should I decide to reappear. FR.
When I am there that is the Melbourne #InfoRec office. When I am not, it is the Tech Gentrification Office, run by The Castro (@ebarnews FYI).
I do hope it is still there, and has a beautiful Krosno vase filled with Indigo coloured IRISes in the spirit of Silicon Graphics and San Francisco.

Just read an interesting IEEE BITS paper on the path to solving the computational tractability of homomorphic encryption of search queries using 'Private Information Retrieval' #InfoRec

ON TRACTABILITY OF HOMOMORPHIC ENCRYPTION
Currently reading an interesting paper that might be on the path to solving the computational tractability problems of privacy preserving #homomorphic encryption by leveraging the benefits of #DeFi computation w/#DApps, #DAOs & #LLMs.

ON HOW TO DO QUANTITATIVE FORENSIC IR:
If anyone wants to get scientific about this - don't forget what I said about #InfoRec the other day:
"1) we can use qualitative and quantitative Forensic IR to probe the innards of any search engine using just the query box"
Scale up this type of 'Donald Reagan' inquiry using lots of search queries and use some information theory and some statistical tests and you can definitively measure manipulation or algorithmic stupidity. They should give different answers so you can dichotomise between the two possible causes if you know what you're looking at.
(NB. I'd err on the side of algorithmic stupidity in this case though as a prior)
Also you need a reference implementation/dataset if you're using Information Theory and you may need to be able to mix it with a Bayesian prior. Yes an Information Theoretic Bayesian prior (look in my Highlighted posts for conditional self-information for some hints).
That is how we do Quantitative Forensic IR. There I said it. Go nuts, I'm over doing it all the time and Search is a circus atm and we don't get paid for this crap.
That should be enough info if anyone wants to have a crack at it.

On the Inner Closed World nature of LLMs and search, I'm not the only one that has noticed this.
Watch this awsm YT interview w/Josep Pujol (@solso) from @Brave Search where he handy wavey explains Inner Closed World at 1:03:44...

#InfoRec #BasementAGI

Oh it's a theory that I'm positing/banging on about LLM based InfoRec atm. #BasementAGI #InfoRec
Traditionally search engines are open world models of the lexicon/corpus. w/LLM search, they are now closed world models, e.g.:
word2vec(words=1000,...)
I'm thinking that they are more closed than that when we get to inference time, where:
open world >> closed world >> inner closed world
Another early indicator of this:
If one plays around with the attention mask bit of transformers with synthetic toy examples and does a bit of information theory on it, one can observe some intersting dynamics start to form due to oversamping, selection bias & non-participation bias that isn't part of the training corpus but is captured by the model.
I need to do some homework and will have more to say on this in a few months, but that's where my thinking is at the moment on LLM InfoRec.
The "inner-closed world assumption".

@izzyz @ludvonrand Yeah rolling back a vm checkpoint should fix this in a few seconds.
Another theory has come up: someone has worked out how to spam the chatgpt indices, similar to what we did to infoseek and altavista.
If this is an #InfoRec attack I have to admit this one wasn’t my crew.
