Today, KECOSCE, through the #JISRAKE program with support from @NLinKenya and @Mensenmissie, facilitated intra-religious dialogue forums for Muslim and Christian leaders to promote the inclusion of women, youth, and minority groups in religious leadership and decision-making spaces.
Leaders from both faiths engaged in separate open discussions on the current status of inclusivity in their institutions. They highlighted challenges such as discriminatory interpretations of religious texts, rigid traditions, and institutional policies that limit meaningful participation.
The forums also addressed barriers faced by persons with disabilities (PWDs), including the lack of accessible infrastructure in places of worship.
As a way forward, leaders committed to:
✅ Ensuring PWD-friendly designs in new religious buildings and renovations
✅ Supporting training for women and youth in leadership and scriptural interpretation
✅ Reviewing institutional norms that hinder inclusive participation
The dialogue marked a critical step toward fostering inclusive and equitable religious communities in the coastal region
