It isn’t about what it says it’s about: the abusive practices are illegal already & should be prosecuted under existing law.
It’s an attempt to get gender identity enshrined in law, on the basis of self-ID.
The CP Bill will:
• discourage legitimate therapy/counselling - if seen at all.
• undermine parents
• force therapists/parents/schools/welfare services to unconditionally affirm contested gender identity when the child would have grown up gay or lesbian.
That is, the conversion practices bill will convert gays or lesbians - the very thing the bill is meant to stop. The bill pits gays and lesbians against transgender and vice versa. One is the ‘erasure’ of the other.
What kind of society are we building if, before we’ve fixed the systems designed to care for people, we introduce a system designed to help them die?

On this day four years ago, activists joined the #KillTheBill day of action against the Tories' Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill - legislation that curbed the right to protest, increased sentences and targeted Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities with new criminal offences around trespass.
The Bill became law in April 2022. Today, its provisions are being used to criminalise peaceful protest on an unprecedented scale.
