Great news this morning! State Senators voted to extend the Nebraska Prenatal Plus Program to ensure future expecting moms at risk can continue to receive support to prevent adverse birth outcomes.
#AM2977, introduced by State Senator George Dungan, amended provisions in #LB773 into #LB958, which was then advanced to Final Reading. The amendment removes the sunset on the Prenatal Plus Program, clarifies the number of breastfeeding sessions and extends reporting on the efficacy of Prenatal Plus until 2034.
Babies born prematurely or with low birth weight face an increased risk of serious health challenges, both at birth and throughout their lives. Thank you Senator Dungan for introducing #LB857 to create Prenatal Plus in 2024 and LB773/AM2977 to extend it!

@GovRicketts #LB773 would have eliminated the 8 hrs of classroom and range proficiency required by the State Patrol to qualify for a permit. That's barely enough to scratch the surface of the training necessary to make a life or death split second decision in using lethal force. /5

Seems "safety" as a policy ought to be uniform. Don't pretend it's about "safety".

#lb773 What else is tiresome is the assumption that a two-house system would have passed this "in 15 minutes", and other demeaning statements about a Unicameral system.
The silence of the supposed "majority" during debate does not imply support. All it means is that the only strong feeling expressed in debate is running against this bill. As few but the sponsor spoke in favor, Nebraska can get the impression this is not popular.

Pull motions - because they subvert the committee vetting process, usually have writing problems that can make their passage difficult and ultimately lead to their Constitutional failure.
