The First National Dialogue on NCDs: From Commitments to Delivery
Today, as the world closes out the Global Week for Action on NCDs 2026 (31 August – 4 September), @RwandaNGOForum is joining National #NCD Communities as Rwanda convenes its First National Dialogue on #NCDs, hosted by @RwandaNCDAlliance in collaboration with @RBC_Rwanda.
This national dialogue is themed "Leadership in Focus — From Commitments to Delivery: Advancing Multi-Sectoral Accountability and Sustainable Financing for NCDs in Rwanda."
This convening has brought together Government and public health institutions, @WHORwanda and development partners, fellow civil society organizations, journalists across national broadcast and digital media, academic and clinical institutions, and, at the center of it all, People Living with #NCDs, whose lived experience is not a side note but a leadership voice at the table.
The dialogue aims to turn political declarations into funded, measurable, insured action by embedding #NCD, mental health, and #HIV care into primary health care (#PHC) and Universal Health Coverage (#UHC) benefit packages, and closing the catastrophic out-of-pocket gap that pushes families into poverty.
@RwandaNGOForum is proud to stand alongside the National #NCD community in this fight. #NCDs and #HIV are not separate battles for the people living with both. Integration on paper and in discussions must become integration in the clinic and in the Community-Based Health Insurance (#CBHI) package, ensuring equitable access and people-centred care.
Financing conversations like this one also feed directly into Rwanda's delegation ahead of the 3rd International Dialogue on Sustainable Financing (#IFD3). This is not a one-day event; it's a checkpoint on a longer accountability road.

🌍 Global Week for Action on NCDs 2026 is here! 🌍
From today, 31 August – 4 September, advocates, communities, and organizations worldwide unite under the theme: Time to Lead. (#LeadOnNCDs)
Prof. Joseph Mucumbitsi, Chairperson of Rwanda NCD Alliance and Board Member of @ncdalliance, reminds us: “It’s time to lead by bridging the global commitments of the 2025 political declaration with national actions to reduce the NCD burden by 2030.”
This year, Leadership is in Focus — governments must turn promises into measurable progress, while communities and people with lived experience continue to drive accountability and action.
NCDs remain the #1 cause of death and disability globally. Without urgent action, deaths could rise to 52 million annually by 2030. The time to act is now.
