The failure to understand the complexities of power dynamics, religious extremism, and the importance of human rights can lead to policies that undermine the fundamental freedoms and dignity of those they are meant to represent. Ignoring the historical subjugation of women, the horrors of slavery and the persecution of religious minorities, makes it easier for contemporary leaders to justify discriminatory actions of their own, or to become enablers through inaction.

When leaders are predominantly drawn from backgrounds in investment, law, or with limited exposure to the humanities, they may lack the critical thinking skills and historical perspective necessary to navigate complex political and social issues. This void can lead to a dangerous naivete, where they unintentionally perpetuate injustices stemming from historical ignorance.
