* Lepa Radić, a Yugoslav communist partisan, was only 17 years-old when she was sentenced to death by hanging, due to her antifascist activity. With the noose around her neck, the Germans offered to spare Radić's life in return for her revealing the names of the Communist Party leaders and members in the shelter, but she refused their offer with the words: "I am not a traitor of my people. Long live the Communist Party, and partisans! Fight, people, for your freedom! Do not surrender to the evildoers! I will be killed, but there are those who will avenge me!"

L'exécution fut documentée par les nazis. Lepa fut la plus jeune titulaire de l'ordre des Héros du Peuple Yougoslave qu'elle reçue de manière posthume en 1951. Son corps n'a jamais été retrouvé. Une école porte son nom à Gradiška en actuelle Bosnie-Herzégovine.
