The lack of examination of upholding the status quo being seen as 'impartial' and not another form of activism journalism, just from the opposing side is insane to me.
Re. IFLA choosing Dubai for WLIC 2024 - email ALIA - see below. #LibrariesAreNotNeutral
@txttimes3 Hi Caroline, the ALIA Board is meeting later this week to discuss the situation and response. We encourage you, and others who are concerned, to email [email protected] with your thoughts or requests so that the ALIA Board is aware of them when the matter is considered.
Thanks @torontolibrary! This event definitely aided me w. my discomfort about twisting around my 'idea' that libraries have always been tough and contested spaces not shushy neutrals that are being SUDDENLY wracked. #noisylibrarians #librariesarenotneutral #contextforgodsake
From Russian missile strikes throughout Ukraine to #banningbooks in parts of the U.S., @uniofoxford's @richove says targeting libraries is "an attack on knowledge and free expression."

Gotta see what we are up against as we actually tell library workers how to be actively anti-racist. #LibrariesAreNotNeutral
@eminencefont @librarianjennie This article is such a load of shite. It has no nuance, is unsurprisingly written by a dude from a right wing thinktank & is so infuriating with its basic dig at critical race theory. Wild guess - is the author a privileged white guy? #LibrariesAreNotNeutral
Things like this are why I support Emily for ALA. Because the leadership of our flagship professional organization needs to be thinking about these questions, and thinking about them in a way that challenges the status-quo. Anyway. #LibrariesAreNotNeutral
Anyway, the big takeaway I got from our discussion of this chapter is that the biggest thing we can do is always challenge the status quo, and keep pushing the idea that #LibrariesAreNotNeutral & they cannot be in our current society. I hope @ALALibrary reads this book too!
Yup, no. Their version of IF is making the problem worse. #LibrariesAreNotNeutral

“We support an exclusionary statement for our meeting room. We believe that not all opinions matter, and we are not going to give space to discriminatory groups because we want our library to be a safe space.”

Hey #parents, when your kid wants a #pronoun button and you say no… “because” is a real sh*tty “reason” and you need to own up to your own discriminatory beliefs. #Library #LibrariesAreForEveryone #LibrariesAreNotNeutral #LibraryTwitter #Librarian

Update on this: this library board had previously grilled this library director bc they felt a grant she scored aligned the library with BLM. They've thankfully now decided to just let her do her job. #Librariesarenotneutral https://t.co/nn5kFRjvMs
