A quick response prevented a dryer fire from spreading last night in Orleans.   At approx. 22:01. the Ottawa Fire Services Communications Division received a 9-1-1 from a resident reporting their dryer was on fire in their two-storey terrace home in the 0-100 block of Lakepointe Dr. Firefighters arrived on scene 4min after being dispatched to the call and confirmed the main level had filled with smoke. The resident confirmed everyone had safely exited the home and that they knocked on their neighbours doors to advise them to exit. Firefighters initiated a fast attack and made their way to the basement where the dryer was located and the flames were extinguished. The fire was declared under control at 22:12, 7min after arriving on scene and contained to the dryer. Fire crews used a thermal imaging camera to confirm the fire did not extend into the walls. The breaker was shut off and the dryer was brought outside. Searches were done of the structure to confirm there were no occupants or pets inside. High pressurized fans were used to ventilate the residual smoke out of the structure. The air quality was monitored until the carbon monoxide readings were down to zero. The attached units were checked and confirmed to be unaffected. We cleared the scene at 22:48.  #OttNews
