Hi, I'm Julie Johnson.
I'm the House Dem that authored a bipartisan Medicaid Expansion bill to expand coverage to 1.5 mil + Texans.
It was ultimately blocked.
#COVID19 is now ravaging our state & Texans need care.
Bring back #LiveWellTX.
RT & follow if you agree. #txlege

I'm Julie Johnson โ wife of a Physician, mother to two boys, & Texas State Representative for House District 115. I authored #HB3871 - the bipartisan #LiveWellTX program to bring home our tax dollars and expand Medicaid to 1.5+ million Texans. #MedEx4TX #TodaysVoicesTues #TXlege
Welcome to #TodaysVoicesTues! Letโs talk about why this should be the year Texas expands Medicaid. First, whoโs joining us today? Introduce yourselves! #MedEx4TX
It's not too late to cover millions of Texans & bring in billions of $ for Texas too. #HB3871 #TXlege
"The #LiveWellTX plan included narrower provisions unique to the state that would still bring in billions of dollars that Texas now leaves on the table."

@DanPatrick โAt the end of the day, the people of Texas need to demand that of their representatives,โ Johnson says. โThe people need to demand that the state improve healthcare in this state and focus on the number one issue to Texans.โ #TXlege #LiveWellTX #HB3871 https://t.co/veXGh86hZJ
The #TXlege had a real chance to make a huge difference this session by passing #HB3871 aka #LiveWellTX. Instead, @DanPatrick chose to behave like a child and deny coverage to 1+ million Texans in order to ram through a highly discriminatory social agenda.

At 2 PM CDT, "Medicaid Momentum in TX" w @lauraguerrac of @SickofitTx on #HB3871 #LiveWellTX & 1115 Waiver on KPFT People's News, 90.1 FM Houston, streaming https://t.co/nS1tShV2Vb & archived at https://t.co/BJaZlEcOaI
With world renowned medical centers all across the state, Texans should have the best healthcare in the world. Instead many struggle to even get through the front door.
You deserve so much better.

My staff and I are so excited to be featured on @ASP today. Thank you @ChrisEvans for this awesome opportunity! I got to explain how drawing down federal dollars through our proposed #LiveWellTX program could increase access to healthcare for millions of Texans! #TXlege #HB3871
"Medicaid expansion would enable millions of people in this country, and in particular, Texas, to access health care coverage." Hear Rep. @juliejohnsonTX on #MedicaidExpansion in this #DailyPoint. Watch the full video to learn more ๐ https://t.co/roafOFaHu9
Yes, the coverage expansion amendment fell short last week in the #txlege.
But don't lose sight of a big achievement: A MAJORITY of the TX House has signed onto #HB3871 the #LiveWellTX bill by @juliejohnsonTX to accept federal funds & increase coverage. https://t.co/KAu8TUmCle
#TexasDeservesBetter than the highest uninsured rate in the nation. The #txlege must act on bipartisan legislation to provide Texans with coverage access - they must give #HB3871 the #LiveWellTX bill a hearing now!

.@JasonWhitely at @wfaa recently asked me how I got 9 R's to sign on to #HB3871 (#LiveWellTX) in the #TXlege when they've avoided increasing health coverage in Texas for 10 years.
The answer?
I actually talked to them.

Thank you @JasonWhitely for sitting down to talk about #HB3871 with me. Drawing down federal funds to increase healthcare coverage for 1.5+ million Texans is the smart and responsible thing to do. We have the votes in the House. Let #LiveWellTX have a hearing. #TXlege @wfaa
EXPANDING MEDICAID FINALLY has the votes to pass the Texas House, so why isn't it moving? More importantly, how did state Rep. @juliejohnsonTX get nine Republicans to support it?
"Sen. Nathan Johnson...has been pushing for bipartisan approaches to expand coverage to Texans using Medicaid dollars, whether itโs a straight up expansion through the Affordable Care Act or thought one of these waiver programs."

We have 76 sponsors on #HB3871 โ a majority of the TX House. #LiveWellTX will draw down federal funds to increase healthcare access for 1.5 million Texans, but R's in the #TXlege won't give it a hearing. So, today @GFColeman will offer it as an amendment to the budget. #TXlege
