@LogozzoChris @seanmccoy I saw a few floating around earlier this year but I might have missed anything more organized. For myself, just been working on expanding where I left off for #dungeon23. Saw a lot of cool branches for #lore24 and #hexplore24 too if that didnt hit your radar. 🍻
Looks like my #lore24 posts kind of petered out, but now I’m switching to #folklore24, with #ttrpg ideas/prompts from local tales, starting with some from parts of England.

Off the west coast of the Aardlands is the Isle of Grut, home to Wolfkin beastfolk and one black dragon. The island’s Wolfkin clans make a living whaling, pirating and raiding the mainland’s coast. They are far more fearsome than clans on the continent.

Eh’weer elves took up residence on the islands soon after the elves and fey came through to Orowyn more than 20,000 years ago. They are few in number, but fierce, and will not tolerate even beastfolk in their lands.

Off the southern coast of Orowyn are the Eh’weer Islands, a small chain occupied by wild elves who, even by wild elf standards, are isolationist. Their harsh, cold environment make them smaller than other elves. Groups seasonally move to the southern coast.

For centuries the hobgoblin clans have controlled the Great Western Plain, often fighting each other as much as surrounding human or orc lands. However, several times the clans have coalesced around one leader. Currently, the leader, Jurtus Kagaan, rules Yirjit.

The apprentice sorceresses of Dhalia’s Rest are taught and indoctrinated by previous apprentices. All are candidates to be named as the reincarnated Dhalia, and rivalries are encouraged to push the apprentices to maximise their power.

#lore24 post 131
Those showing promise with magic at a young age are either willingly given over to the city authorities or taken, receiving an ‘education’ to support their talents and instil loyalty to the city. Apprentices patrol the streets, aiding citizens with their magic.
#lore24 post 130
Dhalia’s Rest, located the coast north of Voncino, is ruled by sorceresses, and ultimately by one judged to be the reincarnation of the legendary figure, Dhalia.
Dhalia used her magic to ward off the violent tides and protect the city as a wealthy trade port.

The hobgoblins of Yirjit, on the Great Western Plain, have been a threat to Voncino for centuries. Most recently, they have stopped raiding for materials and started kidnapping craft specialists in outlying territories, taking these people back as skilled labour

#lore24 post 128
Despite the decline, Voncino remains a key trade port on the inland sea. Caravans from Red Fort avoid the monsters plaguing Montiso’s Wastes to the east of the city, being channelled to Voncino. Trade cones down the river from Dhalia’s Rest on the coast.

The former capital of the Avendine Empire, Voncino’s splendour has been declining for many years. The population is now far smaller and sparser, outer city wall and buildings are left to decay, and, outside the central district, once grand facades go unrepaired.
Still going with Hermit for my #hexplore24 wagon train attempt. We may even get some #dungeon24 out of it here.
#lore24 is building with this sickness. I know what it is but he sure doesn't.
June 8-10th:
The 8th began under a canopy of moderate rain, a cruel reminder that the relentless storm had not yet passed. The decision was made to stay put; the ground was too treacherous to move forward. The wagons sat like islands in a sea of mud, and the travelers huddled beneath whatever shelter they could find, their spirits as damp as the weather.
Midday brought no relief. The rain fell steadily, a monotonous drone that grated on the nerves of the weary travelers. There was no movement, no progress, just the endless, dreary wait. The hours dragged on, the rain showing no sign of letting up. Despair hung heavy in the air, as thick as the mud that trapped their wagons.
Evening fell with little change. The search for sustenance proved futile. Foragers returned empty-handed, their faces etched with frustration and fear. The children, though slightly better, offered little solace as five more people succumbed to sickness, bringing the total to twelve. The air was filled with the coughs and groans of the afflicted, a chorus of misery under the oppressive sky.
The 9th brought a slight reprieve, the heavy rain giving way to a light drizzle. The ground, though still sodden, seemed less treacherous. Yet, the decision was made to remain in place, the previous day’s failures weighing heavily on the travelers’ minds.
Midday saw the rain continue its relentless patter, a constant reminder of their dire situation. There was no movement, no progress, only the ceaseless rain. The hours crawled by, the travelers' spirits sinking further with each passing moment. The light rain offered no comfort, only a reminder of their unending plight.
Evening brought a small victory. Foragers returned with enough peppermint to ease the suffering of fifteen people. Yet, this small triumph was overshadowed by the grim news that ten more had fallen ill, bringing the total to twenty-two. The camp was a place of sickness and despair, the air heavy with the stench of unwashed bodies and the moans of the afflicted.
Morning dawned on the 10th without rain, the sky a sullen gray but mercifully dry. The ground, still wet and treacherous, promised a difficult journey, but the decision was made to move. The travelers pushed forward, the wagons creaking and groaning as they struggled through the mud. Each step was an effort, each mile a victory against the elements. Spirits were lifted as most of the afflicted Overlanders felt much better.
The journey was slow and arduous, but the absence of rain lifted the spirits of the weary travelers. The ground, though wet, seemed less oppressive under the dry sky. As the day waned, a discovery halted their progress. A smoking wagon train was found, a grim relic of a past journey. The air was thick with the scent of burnt wood and despair. Nearby, an open maw near the riverbank glared from the ground at the scouts, its entrance yawning like the mouth of some ancient beast, a silent testament to the dangers of the plains.
Despite the unsettling find, there was a small measure of relief. Most of the travelers had recovered, their aches and pains a fading memory. The camp was filled with a tentative sense of hope, though the sight of the smoking wagon train served as a stark reminder of the perils that lay ahead.
In the eerie twilight, the travelers set up camp, their eyes constantly drawn to the ominous hole. The evening was filled with uneasy whispers and the distant calls of unseen creatures, the air thick with the promise of more trials to come. The grim reality of their journey was ever-present, a shadow that clung to them as they huddled around their fires, seeking warmth and solace in the face of an uncertain future.

Flauberg’s attitude towards and treatment of non-humans have left the city isolated. The elves of Con Arn work to support resistance movements and free elves and rebels raid from the forests. The smugglers of Red Fort are the closest they have to allies.

Luca Seth’s ideas took hold most deeply in Flauberg, where he has been raised to an almost god-like figure. The priesthood reigns in the city, with non-humans crammed into to a small portion near the waterside and banned from the upper city altogether.

A middle-ranking, fanatical priest of Haltath, Luca Seth wrote and preached right after the fall of Avendine, convincing a significant proportion of the human population that the cosmopolitanism and polytheism of the empire had led to its downfall.

After the chaotic fall of Avendine, a fanatical follower of Haltath, the god of Order, gained disciples in and around Flauberg. He claimed that the fall of the empire was due to too many conflicting ideas and interests, promoting a human-centric vision.

Flauberg was the second city of the Avendine empire, a bustling metropolis and leading trade port with the elves of Con Arn. Not so today, it has become an insular city state. Conflict rages with wild elves, (mostly) non-human rebels, and gnolls to the east.

Although the dwarves of Grongrad generally stay in their fortified citadel, they do trade with Flauberg. Both sides trade begrudgingly, but out of necessity. The dwarves mistrust outsiders, the humans of Flauberg dismiss non-humans as lesser.

Although undead soldiers or porters are common in the outer city of Citadel Grongrad and on the walls, they are banned from the inner city, where most civilians live. Although undead are useful, they are also perceived as unclean.

The dwarves of Grongrad, in the eastern mountains, are sometimes called the Zombie Lords. Threats constantly lurk in their deep halls and tunnels. The dead are a resource, friend and enemy corpses alike. Undead soldiers ‘man’ the battlements of the outer city.

Citadel Grongrad is a dwarven stronghold in the eastern spine of Orowyn, the Bleakspire mountain range. The communities of dwarves here have been around since before even the elves arrived, over 20,000 years ago. Nobody knows how they arrived on the continent.
