📷 Urgent RSPCA Appeal 📷 | #lowerwick, #worcester WR2: "bait dog" warning issued after a chihuahua/pug-crossbreed is found unconscious and injured.
The young white and tan female dog was brought into the vets by a member of the public after reportedly being found near the BP garage on Malvern Road (WR2 4NR), at around 6.30pm on Friday April 24, 2026.
The RSPCA said that they believe the pet was being used as a bait dog, which sees dogs used for training in illegal dog fighting.
The dog, who was unconscious and bleeding from a neck wound, was found in a serious condition, and the decision was made to euthanise her to end her suffering.
RSPCA animal rescue officers, Meg Cross, who is investigating the incident, said: “This poor dog was alive but unconscious, and was bleeding around the neck. Puncture wounds were also found around her neck and legs.
“Some older wounds were also found, and she was underweight. It is thought she may have been used as a bait dog, which is used to train dogs involved in illegal dog fighting.”
The dog was found to have no microchip, collar, or further details.
ARO Meg Cross added: “This must have been very distressing for the finders and for the vet practice too, as this dog was in a really bad way.
“Due to the type of injuries and circumstances here, we’d like to find out more information about what happened to this poor dog.
“Anyone who has any first-hand information about this dog can contact us on 0300 123 8018 and can quote incident 01787219.”
