✨It’s my second birthday here in Israel- almost two years since I made the decision to make Aliyah to the Shomron from Berkeley, California✌🏾
✨I’ve been ruminating on what it all means…
✨I mean… I know what it means 😆
… but it feels so big and powerful sometimes, my reality now as a dual citizen 🇺🇸🇮🇱, living in the heartland of our tribe🕎✡️
I am so honored and challenged by this crazy process called absorption… being an immigrant is something else !!!

✨I want to encourage anyone that dreams of making Aliyah, to give it more thought. And then do it. Just put one foot in front of the other, and step by step, find your way home✨

✨my daughter who has resisted Aliyah
✨refused to speak Hebrew
✨and begged me to go back to California for the first year we were here
✨came home from a play date today and announced
(in Hebrew)
✨that she will only be speaking Hebrew from now on 🥰
✨We have passed through an important stage in our absorption into Israeli society
✨It’s our Aliyah story and I’m so proud✨

I was waiting for the bus to go to Shiloh to pick up my Israeli passport.
I was given a ride by a dad who lives on my Yeshuv who was picking up his girls from school there… he asked me what I was doing in Shiloh… I said I’m going to “Cloud Computers.” He said no it’s not up near the school, it’s in lower Shiloh in the Industrial zone.
Uh oh.
The bus doesn’t go there… I’m not sure how to do this. Cue Panic.
He said, “I’m going to drive you there.”
“Thank you so much!” I gushed, relieved that I would at least get to pick up my passport…
…but getting home will be an unknown adventure… I tried to comfort myself by reminding me to work just one problem at a time😅
My mind was racing, trying to come up with a solution for getting home from this unknown location… I felt the stress compounding and I did my best to just, “go with it.”
Then the man says, “I’m going to drop you off, go get my girls, then we’ll come back and pick you up.”
“Thank you so much! You are a miracle for me! G-d is amazing.”
“Yes. It’s always Hashem.”
I love my people. I love my country. Am Yisrael Chai🇮🇱

Despite the fires and the extreme wind here in Shomron, my beautiful Yeshuv pulled off a celebration like I have never experienced before.
I am so blessed to be here🥹

💙This Week’s Torah Portion: Shemini – שמיני
Leviticus 9:1–11:47
💙Parshat Shemini begins with awe… the Divine Presence descends on the Mishkan.
💙But then, tragedy strikes. Nadav and Avihu, sons of Aaron the High Priest, offer an “eish zarah” (a strange fire) and die instantly.
💙Some commentators say they were too bold, others say they were too holy. But perhaps they were also misunderstood.
💙Could Nadav and Avihu have been neurodivergent?🧐
💙Sensitive, intense, spiritually attuned, but not quite able to conform to the exact protocols of the priestly system. Maybe they acted from passion, not rebellion. Yearning, not defiance.
💙They were different… and in a world that demanded order, their fire was seen as strange.
✨I am neurodivergent✨
💙I am often misunderstood because I understand the world differently🤷🏽♀️
… Perhaps Avihu and Nadav were like this too.
💙This week, as Israel continues to grieve and fight for the return of our hostages, we are surrounded by misunderstood pain 😣
trauma that burns beneath the surface
💙Many of us feel out of step with the world, holding grief that doesn’t go away, love that doesn’t know where to go, and fire we don’t always know how to contain safely.
💙We also mourn with the people of India🇮🇳, after the brutal massacre that took innocent lives in Kashmir.
Israel stands with India🇮🇳🇮🇱
💙We know the agony of terror
💙We know what it is to bury loved ones taken from us by terrorism 💔
💙Perhaps Parshat Shemini teaches us to be careful with fire but not to fear it… to make space for those whose offerings are different
… And to honor the memory of those lost with love, justice, and courage.
💙May the fire in us build, not destroy.
💙May the misunderstood be seen.
💙May we transform grief into holiness.

Today was a glorious day in Jerusalem!🕍
So many things to celebrate!🎉🥳🎊🥂
Easter Sunday✝️🐰… celebrating 420🌳… the day after Passover when everyone can eat yummy leavened bread again🥯… and the last day of the holiday break for kids in school🥳

the families were out and about enjoying all there is to offer😍
