This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience and dedication of mothers who continue to nurture healthier families and stronger communities across the rural areas. The photos capture mothers from the Iskufilan Mother-to-Mother Support Group #MtMSG in Ashabito, Mandera proudly standing in their communal garden, holding the fresh produce they have cultivated through collective effort and determination.
The vegetables they grow are improving household nutrition by providing healthier meals for their children and communities, while surplus harvests are sold to generate income and strengthen household stability.
Beyond food production, the garden represents dignity, self-reliance, and hope for mothers working tirelessly to secure a better future for their families.
Through the Hanaano Programme, implemented by @RACIDA_Ngo in partnership with @Concern and funded by @Irish_Aid, women are transforming communal spaces into sustainable livelihoods, improved nutrition outcomes, and lasting community impact.
Communities are the first responders to climate shocks and disasters.

By strengthening Mother-to-Mother Support Groups, promoting improved infant and young child feeding practices, expanding access to safe and reliable water sources, and supporting climate-resilient livelihoods, we are addressing the structural drivers of malnutrition, food insecurity, unsafe water, and limited income opportunities.
From empowered caregivers to rehabilitated water systems and strengthened household economies, communities are building resilience against drought, conflict and recurring shocks.
