Rating Action Overview:
• AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc.
reported record revenue and EBITDA in the second quarter
of 2026, reflecting continued momentum in the box office. S&P Global Ratings now believes the company has a path to generate sustained positive reported free cash flows.
• Therefore, we raised our issuer credit rating on AMC to ‘B-’ from ‘CCC+’.
• At the same time, we raised our issue-level rating on its $2 billion first-lien term loan to ‘B+’
from ‘B’, Muvico LLC secured notes and 7.5% AMC secured notes to ‘B-’ from ‘CCC+’, Odeon
first-lien term loan to ‘B’ from ‘B-’, and $112 million exchangeable notes to ‘CCC’ from ‘CCC-’.
• The stable outlook reflects our view that AMC will sustain improved operating performance
over the next 12 months, generate positive reported free cash flow in 2027, and maintain
adequate liquidity.

$AMC S&P upgrades #AMC rating on strong box office
S&P Global Ratings upgraded $AMC to ’B-’ from ’CCC+’ on Tuesday, citing improved operating performance and a path to sustained positive free cash flow. The outlook remains stable.
S&P expects the domestic box office will approach $10 billion in 2026, surpassing its original $9.3 billion estimate and $8.6 billion in 2025. Strong performances from "Toy Story 5", "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie", and "Odyssey" drove improvement of about 10.3% as of July 27, 2026. The rating agency forecasts AMC will increase revenue about 13% in 2026 and 4%-5% in 2027.
AMC maintains a debt burden of about $3.8 billion, with over $450 million in annual interest expense and $850 million in rent. The company held $778 million cash at the end of the second quarter, with its nearest maturity in 2029. S&P expects AMC will report a modest free cash flow deficit in 2026 before beginning to sustain positive cash flow in 2027.
