To win back hearts and minds, we need a values-based vision, not a reactive or defensive one.
Just one of the many insights from our latest #MobLabLive with Manoela Miklos, @anshul_tewari and @nacarty on resisting authoritarianism. Read the recap here: https://t.co/CG2AtxzuHX
We have a small window before the world falls into fascism. We are in exceptional times, the charity world, NGOs, need to step up. If your annual plans aren't going to tackle this, then throw them out the window because we have to take this seriously, says @nacarty #MobLabLive
Our narrative is actually quite simple: We want a world in which everyone has access to what they need, can thrive, is equal. But we hardly ever say this. We need to learn how to tell our story and build a narrative around what we envision #MobLabLive @nacarty
Women's marches in Brazil: people have complained that the mobilisations did not change the result of the election, but they did create an infrastructure and bonds that will allow us to resist long term Monoela Miklos on #moblablive
In India, similar to Brazil, civil society has become a-political. Yhey do service delivery. This needs to change. Civil society organisations need to step up and be political to win anything, says @AprajitaPan #moblablive
Formal civil society organisations are too used to being diplomatic in Brazil, appealing to all sides, being neutral - this does not work to tackle authoritarianism. The grassroots is offering an alternative, but lack resources and capacities some times. #moblablive
Disinformation and misinformation are being weaponised by the right in Brazil and played a huge role in the election - this will continue and get worse and we need to tackle this more effectively #moblablive
.@nacarty is a director with @GetPowerLabs - building movement and organisations infrastructure in the USA to harness digital, and more traditional tools, so that they are more resilient and effective #MobLabLive https://t.co/kIyfBWOjG4

At the next #MobLabLive on 28 November, we have an impressive line-up of guests who will share how changemakers in Brazil, India and the US are taking action to turn the tide of authoritarianism. https://t.co/ZAkAJ0SLMZ Let's learn a little more about them:
Join me at #MobLabLive next week. We're talking about How are civil societies in Brazil, India and the US resisting authoritarianism, and what can the global social change community learn from these experiences?

Thanks everyone for joining #MobLabLive. Great questions and we really only hit on a handful of the so many good ones shared. We see more conversations about this in the future.
Q about scaling this kind of campaigning:
- Cecili: Snowflake model. Hubs. Action leaders are vols. Disperses time. Need replicable model.
- Mary Alice: tech tools/platforms that are widely available and easy to use.
#MobLabLive
Campaigners are control freaks (raise your hand if not) but it's important to recognise and, well, control that nature so you can let go and trust people.

So good >> We take values of equity and trust seriously. Sometimes people are off message or other issues come up. We need to trust in and rely on our training and planning. Be confident that our methods work. If not we learn from it. - Cecili Thompson Williams #MobLabLive
We approach what we're doing from the perspective of what skills and knowledge will volunteers need not just now but 5 or 10 years down the road when they can be leading campaigns. Be a better agent for good.
