Today I want to share the story of how the @monprotocol project valued its audience at $5 for 6-8 months of daily quests.
Let's start with the fact that about 8 months ago, a quest platform was launched where loyal users could earn points for the $Mon Airdrop. To earn a lot of points, you had to complete quests every day, as many of them were time-limited.
Then on May 27, the TGE took place, and users received nothing for their help with marketing. On top of that, even NFT holders ended up at a big loss. Currently, NFTs have dropped 10 times from their ATH, and the token has seen a 5x decline since the TGE.
After that, we faced another 3 months of quests, where the admins introduced mandatory and additional quests that were supposed to filter out some people and allegedly increase rewards.
And now, after almost 8 months, MON Protocol has finally announced the rewards, where most loyal users can receive $5-8. Considering all the costs of claiming and withdrawing the token on the ETH network, the remaining amount is laughable. As a result, very few people will actually claim, and all the unclaimed tokens will most likely go to the admins.
In the end, the project received almost free marketing before the TGE, which helped them close public token sales and generate good social media metrics before listing on CEX. Everyone benefited, except the community :)
What conclusions can be drawn from this?
- In the case of the community, it's important not to stay silent about such situations but to speak out loudly, so that in the future, there will be fewer instances where the community becomes a hostage to the free marketing of a greedy project.
- For projects, in turn, they need to be more open and transparent with their community. Otherwise, they risk losing their reputation and facing delistings from exchanges, which is happening more frequently nowadays.
I would also appreciate support from other influencers for this post. Web3 needs to be cleansed of projects like MON Protocol, Well3, and so on.
