WOMAN IN DENVER HIT-AND-RUN SAYS DRIVER WAS BARRY MORPHEW. TRUCK PLATE MATCHES HIS MURDER CASE FILE DENVER — A woman hit in a Denver parking-lot crash last week says the driver who backed into her car and left was Barry Morphew. Denver police have not confirmed that. The black Ford pickup in her video carries an Indiana plate that already appears in Morphew’s murder case. The crash happened about 7:30 p.m. Aug. 26 near East Eighth Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. The woman, identified as Christina, said she and a friend were sitting in her car outside a CVS when a black Ford pickup tailgated another vehicle and honked. She started recording what she thought was road rage. She said the pickup then backed into her car. The driver would not give identification and drove off. Her video shows Indiana plate F397FR. That same plate is cited in a prosecution filing opposing a bond reduction in Morphew’s first-degree murder case. Prosecutors wrote that license-plate readers placed Morphew in two different vehicles using F397FR between 2023 and 2025, traveling through several states. A person close to the Morphew family who reviewed the Denver video told sources he is certain the man on camera is Barry Morphew. Investigators in Suzanne Morphew’s disappearance also collected surveillance of Barry getting out of a dark pickup similar in look to the truck in Christina’s video. Morphew is charged with first-degree murder in the 2020 death of his wife, Suzanne, who vanished from the family’s Chaffee County home on Mother’s Day. He has pleaded not guilty. He is out on bond with limits on his travel. Denver police have not announced charges in the hit-and-run and have not publicly identified the driver. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
