Significant differentials in benchmark's sectoral composition and India's own weight in the #MSCIEM benchmark significantly depress #India's optical index-level premium over EM peers. Sector specific differentials though are telling - Staples (383% premium over EM peers), and Real Estate (356%) top the list. However, Consumer discretionary (+223%) and Industrials (+190%) are particularly interesting - Their mind-bending premiums are despite relatively more state ownership within these sectors in India than within their EM peers. Meanwhile, despite evident structural headwinds, Indian tech names nonetheless trade at >40% premium, which is incidentally the lowest premium among all sectors. There is nothing reasonable about this. Steroidal entitlement!
