Dear Kannadigas/Non Hindi Speakers, Think before you say “India First.” It sounds patriotic, but ask yourself, what does it really mean today? When a Kannadiga MP Tejaswi Surya says Kannada should be used in Karnataka, a section of Hindi speakers unite in outrage. They claim “India First”, but what they really mean is “Hindi First.” To them, Kannada asserting its space even in Karnataka feels like a threat. So let’s be honest If “India First” demands silence when Kannada is insulted, If it means accepting Hindi as the default and treating Kannada as secondary, Then it’s not patriotism, it’s linguistic slavery. We joined the Indian Union with dignity, not to be second-class citizens in our own land. Being a proud Indian doesn’t mean erasing our Kannada identity. So next time someone says “India First”, ask: Whose India? Whose language? Whose identity? In Kannada Nadu, Kannada comes first. Always. Wake up. Think. And come out of the “India First” myth because it’s being used to put Hindi and Hindi speakers above all else.
