The 2025 commemoration of the National Day of Mourning is here. In 2024 alone, no fewer than 5,353 Nigerians were killed with 5,171 others abducted. A staggering 88.5% of these killings occurred in the Northern region. Nigeria is not at war, yet our people are being massacred daily. These victims are more than statistics, they were sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, friends and neighbors. Their lives mattered. Their stories deserve to be told.
