Hey friends! Our #dlnVLE Slow Chat is still happening this week! Jump in on Q2, and I’ll share Q3 soon as well! #studentVLE #networkingYR
QUESTION TWO: How are you engaging with students as partners in their learning?
#dlnVLE #studentVLE #yrdsb
@Mr_Schellenberg @susan_soh A1: I would really like to try some of @noasbobs amazing strategies, including the #FridayPhoto and the #P3 Personal Playlist activities! I really think they both invite so much discussion and opportunity to get to know our learners! #dlnVLE #networkingYR
Hey there #dlnVLE and #networkingYR friends! Join us this week for our Slow Chat! First Question (Q1) - what's an online teaching strategy that you would like to try sometime?
Hi @jkervs and @susan_soh! To kick off this week's slow chat, the first question is about our online learning spaces (e.g. Google Classroom or D2L Brightspace).
Q1: What is an online teaching strategy you would like to try? #dlnVLE #yrdsb
A4: Providing spaces (eg. discussion forums) for students to connect with each other, offering positive reinforcement in a visible way to encourage risk-taking, giving materials & resources a consistent "home" on the LMS, simplifying processes. #dlnVLE #designVLE #networkingYR
Our final question is up! Wow, it's been a fast and fun time chatting with you today! Here is Question 4.
Q4: How are you designing your virtual learning environment for students? #dlnVLE #designVLE #networkingYR
S2: I have my students use Google Classroom and email to provide feedback. One advantage of using GC is that other students can also learn from the answer provided. I ask students to use email if anonymity is important.
#dlnVLE #networkingyr
A3: I love using simple Google Meet chat activities like "3-2-1-Waterfall" or "One's Gotta Go," Google Forms for private responses, or activities like "Free Share Friday" where they share their interests and passions. #dlnVLE #crrpVLE #networkingYR
We're so glad that you're joining in our chat today! Question 3 is up next:
Q3: How are you getting to know your students online? #dlnVLE #crrpVLE #networkingYR
A2: A tool I used at the end of the course was a Jamboard with a few questions - What did or did not work well, what could be tweaked, what advice could you offer me, what else would you like to say? Got such open & honest feedback! #dlnVLE #studentVLE #networkingYR
A1: One success was increasing student engagement and building community by having students share their plans for the winter holidays by inserting a gif into a Google slide. #dlnvle #networkingyr
It's time for Question 2!
Don't forget to use our hashtags!
Q2: What is a digital tool or online strategy that you use to get student feedback? #dlnVLE #studentVLE #networkingYR
A1: A success story from teaching online would have to be hearing from both educators and students how much they have been enjoying the many engagement activities colleagues are sharing with each other and trying out! #dlnVLE #networkingYR
Welcome to our first #dlnVLE Twitter Chat! Please use the 'A1, A2' format when responding! Here is Question 1:
