It focused on a few of the many, many cases found in last year's #NewProjectData database update of c.17,000 cases.
Why did we end it?
So we can focus on finalising the #NextProjectData update, for release on 27 March 2023!

In our #NewProjectData, there are 28 accidents on July 11, incl:
#OnThisDay 1938, nr #Hampstead station, #London, track worker Cyril Smith collapsed on the electric rail.
He was 'removed without delay to a place of safety, where a doctor gave him medical attention' but he died.
#OnThisDay 1910 GCR coal porters John Fisher & Frederick Leach were working at #London Marylebone coal yard.
They used a capstan without authority - but the rope tightened & caught them. Fisher's shoulder was broke; Leach died.

#OnThisDay 1925 LMS engine cleaner James McQuattie, 23, was injured at #Glasgow, #Scotland.
Cleaning an engine, he put his hand on a buffer as he stepped over an inspection pit. Another engine closed up; his hand was bruised.

#OnThisDay 1924 GWR hoistman Arthur Olsen, 53, was injured at #Swansea docks, #Wales.
A colleague using a hydraulic capstan gave the signal to move some wagons; the capstan chain hit Olson on the ankle.

#OnThisDay 1930 LMS track worker Thomas Blackadder, 48, died at #Grangemouth, #Stirlingshire, #Scotland.
Crossing the main lines near Foulds Junction, he got safely over 1 line but was hit by a passenger train on another.

Unfortunately? Yes.
No-one wants to strike - and hopefully the talks going on today will yield a positive resolution on the issues at stake: conditions, pay, casualisation, workload...
#OnThisDay 1923 GWR engine driver Thomas Jones was injured at #Buildwas, #Shropshire, #England.
Thinking he'd lost control of his train on a falling gradient, he jumped off the engine to apply wagon brakes, injuring his knees.

#OnThisDay 1929 LNER passenger guard Archibald Harvey, 58, was injured at Bridgeton Cross, #Lanarkshire, #Scotland.
Intending to get off a loco footplate, Harvey hit a wagon they were passing on a siding & broke his leg.

We'd rather be working - but the situation in HE & beyond means we're striking.

@RailwayMuseum #OnThisDay 1923 GWR wagon reparier H Sullivan was injured at #Neath, #Glamorganshire, #Wales.
Two wagons shunted into the siding where Sullivan was working, resulting in him being struck in the face. Sullivan was partially blamed.

#OnThisDay 1929 LNER fireman Benjamin Tough was injured at #Dundee, #Scotland.
Tough went between the tender of his engine & a coach to couple them when he was crushed. His shoulder & ribs were bruised.

#OnThisDay 1905 LNWR goods porter Peter Gordon was injured at #Dublin North Wall, #Ireland.
Gordon was unloading hampers in a truck. After due warning the truck was moved; a hamper fell on him. His right ankle was bruised.

#OnThisDay 1923 LNER engine fitter James Swan, 23, was injured at #Thornton, #Fife, #Scotland.
Adjusting an engine's brake blocks, Swan was crushed when another engine hit his loco - despite the "Not to be Moved" boards he'd used.
