@sksnider I VERY much agree here- I encourage my kids at #NoelPointerFoundation to write music & exposing them to *new* music. The foundation is predominantly black/brown kids and they're incredible musicians!! Hopefully I can commission some composers I know to write for them too :)
@mormolyke @cassiewieland and WORD same here yo! I teach with @yciw and for the #NoelPointerFoundation and formerly with the NY Philharmonic. I'm super lucky to be surrounded by badass lady composers here too which I am EXTREMELY lucky and grateful for. I wouldn't have kept on my track without them.
HEY one of my students at #noelpointerfoundation double bass scrolls broke (again 😰) and she doesn’t have the funds to fix it, meaning she can’t practice- can any of my #string pals help her out/suggestions in NYC? She said her families repair budget is around $400-500. Help!
I’m doing this through a pilot mentoring program at the #NoelPointerFoundation that I’m artistic director for- I’m REALLY really excited to be able to do this now too! Some of my girls (including my student- on far right!) performed today. *Proud mom status* They’re so cool.
