@drruthannharpur I'd say the problem lies with both. #normabirth ideology talks down risk when viewed through its normal-centric prism and delegitimises interventions as 'routine' even when indicated. The language directly causes harm through misinformation driven choices.

@catherineroyuk @AmandaPritchard @SamRobertsNHS @GregClarkMP Ignoring level 1 evidence on #inductionoflabour in favour of pseudoscience. #normabirth ideology driven choices in childbirth aren't quite the same thing as #informedchoices because the alternative does not work. Also, it is never about the woman.

@JamesTitcombe To be fair the ICM definition of a midwife says precisely that about the promotion of #normabirth . The problem lies not with the thesis but with how some in the profession have chosen to define the broader direction it takes.
