Much as I admire writers who can work through depression and illness and whatnot, if my brain is being a hazy fuck then I physically can't do it without winding up in a puddle of tears and impostor syndrome. And 2020 has been the year of the haze. #NotAlwaysWork

So far I've done captioning relating to marketing, Java programming, and decision science, all of which involve unique jargon, none of which the automated captions can render with any consistency, producing some delightful typos. #NotAlwaysWork
My role includes straight-up transcribing audio from video, but also correcting the automated closed captions that have been machine produced. Both of these things are very enjoyable and fulfil my nitpicky editor brain. #NotAlwaysWork
#NotAlwaysWork update: I'm casually employed as an audio transcriber with a company that facilitates online learning for various institutes. My hours depend on when there is work available, who else is available to do it, and whether or not I have other fixed commitments.

I made a whopping $246 and declared it on my regular tax return because it's not a business, it's me having an ABN as a sole trader and freelance writing.
...saying my claim was on hold until I submitted identity documents (which, BTW, they already had).
