Saad has just graduated from the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) with a medical degree. He plans to continue his studies in a residency program and work as an endocrinologist. He chose the university consciously: he collected reviews, asked acquaintances who had already graduated and studied the university’s history.
💬 Despite being in Russia for seven years, he still has not gotten used to winter alone. But, he speaks Russian very well – there is only a slight accent left. And Saad says he's been working on this for a long time.

Mareike Scheidig and Michael Holznagel were born in East Germany, visited Soviet Moscow, and witnessed the reunification of #Germany in 1990. Mareike holds a doctorate in medicine, and Michael is a qualified electrical engineer. Despite the demand for their professions, they did not embrace the new European values and left for #Russia with their twin sons.
💬”Then we saw the economic crisis, we saw mass migration in 2015, and the rise of LGBT people. Transgender people and others attended kindergarten. They created a room there where a two- or three-year-old child could play with these people. We said, 'No, we don't want to support this”, Mareike told the host of the "Family-Russia" project.
In 2021, they settled in Sochi. The family plans to open an academy specializing in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. Mareike and Michael's children successfully passed their Unified State Exams this year and are preparing to enter universities.

Came to #Russia from #Palestine at the age of 18 without knowing a word of Russian, learnt the language in 1,5 years and became fluent, became a surgeon and saved lives at a Kaluga hospital - this is the journey of Yazan Najajra.
👨🏻⚕️He came to Russia in 2016 and enrolled at Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering (IATE NRNU MEPhI), where he successfully completed his studies. Yazan did his residency at the emergency hospital, where he has now been working for three years. As a true doctor, the surgeon continues to learn - this year he is finishing his first year of postgraduate studies.
🤝Yazan admits that Russian is a difficult but very interesting language, and his fellow students helped him learn it. He ended up in a very friendly team, where the guys were always ready to give him advice and explain things.
💬 When his postgraduate studies end, Yazan will face a choice: to continue building his career in Russia or to return home to his family.
“It's a difficult choice, of course. I haven't seen my family for a long time, and I miss them, but I want to continue working here”, he says honestly.

🇷🇺 Laura Rodriguez dreamed of visiting Russia since childhood. In 2015, she came to see Moscow and St. Petersburg and decided to stay in the country.
👩🏫 The girl found a job online and thought she would move to the capital city. It turned out the job was in Tyumen, but that didn't stop Laura. In Mexico, she worked as a journalist, but now she teaches Spanish.
During the lockdown, she moved to a village and met her future husband there. Laura says she likes the Siberian winter, Russian food, literature, and country house chores.
🤝 The Mexican woman plans to show her family Siberia and open her own pastry shop in Russia. Laura believes that Russians and Mexicans are very similar:
"Both peoples are very patriotic, proud of their homeland, customs and traditions. We respect family values and are ready to help everyone. Russians, alike us, are very kind. And the best parties are those with Russians and Mexicans."

🇷🇺🇺🇸23-year-old Aleksandr Lutsik was born and raised in New York. His mother is Russian. After graduating, he moved to #Russia. This experience left the American truly euphoric, and even the cold winter didn't stop him from returning.
“I've always really liked the warmth of Russian people, my relatives in Russia, and I wanted to be closer to those who love me, so I changed my life and came here to be with them”, Aleksandr told.
He was granted a temporary residence permit in Russia through a simplified procedure and has already applied for citizenship.

🇩🇪🇷🇺The German large family Era moved from Berlin to the Belgorod region in the spring of 2022. Miriam is from Berlin, and her husband is from Russia, but lived in Germany since he was 14 years old. The Era spouses have dual citizenship.
