The term "common language of RAW" is a misnomer. The text has no inherit meaning. We give it meaning by the process of interpretation. RAW aka the literalistic approach is one of many. Posing it as a common/objective/neutral is an idealistic bias.

Except Original D&D, which was only the campaign rules, and which directs you to pair with Chainmail - a combination mass combat and skirmish wargame.

Just had an hour long debate with 300 people in a RPG group chat. I said cheating and lying to your players is wrong and will lead to players leaving your game. EVERYONE else disagreed. Don’t fudge the dice people. It is cheating and, by definition, a LIE.
