@laralogan #operationjericho General Paul Vallely (RET army) talked to them personally and McKellop did a great job describing all the conditions in the gulag with others.

IAF bombing of Mizoram.
In 1961, the Mizo Hills were a part of the state of #Assam. The Mizo National Front (MNF) formed on October 28 that year, asserted its right to self-determination.
On February 28, 1966, the Mizo National Front launched #OperationJericho to throw out Indian forces stationed in Mizoram – launching simultaneous attacks on Assam Rifles garrisons in Aizawl and Lunglei.
The next day, the Mizo National Front declared independence from India. Operation Jericho shocked the security forces stationed in the Mizo Hills – the insurgents swiftly managed to capture significant installations including the government treasury in Aizawl, and Army installations in Champhai and Lunglei districts.
MNF replaced the Indian flag with its own at the Assam Rifles headquarters and declared independence.
The central government led by Mrs #IndiraGandhi ordered action by IAF. On March 5, four fighter jets of the Indian Air Force initially fired on MNF.
Later on, the strafing of Aizawl and other areas continued till March 13 even as the town’s panicked civilian population fled to the hills.
The rebels were forced to retreat into the jungles of Myanmar and Bangladesh, which was then East Pakistan.
Locals claim that #RajeshPilot and #SureshKalmadi were among the IAF pilots who dropped the bombs (Wikipedia).
The Union government and the Mizo National Front signed the Mizoram Peace Accord, this allowed for the creation of the State of Mizoram on 20 February 1987, as India's 23rd state.
#Laldenga was appointed as the CM.
The air attack helped the Army regain control of vast areas that had been declared independent. The Army operation on the ground to clear rebel held positions was led by Brig (later Maj Gen) Rustom Zal Kabraji, AVSM, who was commanding 61 Mountain Brigade.
Readers might recollect that in Feb 2011 #MuamarGaddafi had attacked demonstrators in #Libya with warplanes and helicopter gunships.
Now, Manipur Kuki problem has to be solved. (Acknowledgement- https://t.co/P4rTvcyaRH Mar 05, 2016 , India Today Mar 5, 2019, The Indian Express August 17, 2023 and August 12, 2023)

Aizwal, Mizoram bombing by IAF.

The next day, the Mizo National Front declared independence from India. The Indian armed forces, fresh from the Sino-Indian War of 1962 and the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, were focused on the Indo-Pakistan and Indo-China borders.
The extremist MNF leaders wanted to take advantage of this situation by starting an armed rebellion to establish an independent Mizo nation. Operation Jericho shocked the security forces stationed in the Mizo Hills – the insurgents swiftly managed to capture significant installations including the government treasury in Aizawl, and Army installations in Champhai and Lunglei districts.

Taking off from Tezpur, Kumbigram and Jorhat in Assam, the planes first used machine guns to fire at the town. They returned the next day to drop incendiary bombs.

@ Full Life, Uyo.
Ich sag mal soviel: #OperationJericho wird in den Osterferien einen großen Schritt dahin gehen, meine Beteiligung am System Schule signifikant zu reduzieren!
I tried.
All it takes is ONE LOOK at #smeargate to see what a dangerous liar the Culture Secretary is. Police/courts have failed me. If Boris Johnson will not hear me, he will hear from his MPs (who will HATE this next bit), THEN we will talk.
Monday: #OperationJericho
#dorries

I once gave Boris Johnson technology lessons. He never came around to my place. SO:
@BorisJohnson
Bring your best detectives to my office. Open computer. Ask me anything.
Nadine Dorries involved herself in crimes against me and others.
Let me prove it.
Offer expires 6pm Sun.

Stakes are high, so just in case anyone is worried, I don't plan for a MOMENT to betray your trust by involving you in anything unseemly, unjust, illegal, or unsafe.
I've got this. WE'VE got this.
YOU are going to LOVE it. SO much fun.
Tories will HATE it.
