I was asked, what the worst consequences of the changes in PCS scoring are for the sport.
[A thread]
Well, I crossed out all judging criteria from the old PCS chart that are no longer included:

On the occasion of the ISU congress, it's time to publish my personal thoughts and suggestions regarding the current scoring system.
Since the PCS are a key topic this time, I share that part of my analysis first:

@gwendalsedgess In the course of my #PCSanalysis I compiled a set of more detailed judging criteria for the two PE bullets
- carriage and clarity of movement
- variety and contrast of movements
I based the criteria on my experiences from ballroom dance and tried to adapt them to FS:

I read so often that a pop is a serious error and the PCS caps must apply.
Folks. A jump that doesn't have the desired number of revolutions doesn't spoil the program by default.
This is a chart that shows positive and negative impacts of a jump on the PCS:

@lunnarias Here is another table that makes the current issues in PCS scoring even more apparent (almost painful to read):
#PCSanalysis

I'm currently re-working the entire PCS scoring and therefore analysed the PCS in the men's SP at Junior Worlds 2020 amongst others.
These are the not surprising, but very apparent issues:
#PCSanalysis

I've seen multiple comments about the illogical PCS cap rule on my TL.
In my latest jump scoring analysis I also discussed the impact of a jump element on the 5 components and why the PCS cap should be abolished in its current form:
#PCSanalysis

This should be a popular opinion. PCS cap is illogical and not clearly defined as an excuse to apply it selectively. It encourages skaters to have empty jump focused programs and punishes skaters who try to do everything and combine both quality jumps and quality components.
Okay everyone. I finally completed my full analysis of the current rules and scoring procedure for figure skating jumps.
The analysis covers a total of 10 pages with the following 6 sections:

Excellent thread with annotated clips for every jump entry. Thank you very much for compiling this!

[Thread of Difficult/Creative Entries for Quad jumps]
Because quad jumps have become the norm in singles’ figure skating but difficult entries for them isn’t. There are not many skaters who can land quads successfully and consistently
I promised a summary thread about my top 4 Yuzu programs in the different program components and here it is.
I’d like to give some general comments about Yuzu’s programs and skills and what I observed while creating these threads.

Final round of my top 4 Yuzu program threads!
We have finally reached the king of program components, the one that sets the genius apart from the rest and rewards the best program creator: composition! 🥰

New day, new edition of my top 4 Yuzu performances!
In this fourth thread the focus is on skating skills, the most technical of the five components.
For easier access, I created a chart that shows the four key aspects and their relation to each other:

Here is the third part of my PCS top 4 series.
Topic of this thread: transitions!
Personally, I would say that this is Yuzu’s second strongest component together with CO. There is some gap after IN, because Yuzu crashes every judging scale in IN.
#PCSanalysis #YuzuruHanyu𓃵
Here is the promised second part of my PCS top 4 series. This time it’s about my favorite component: interpretation and timing
The truth is: in this component Yuzu is a 12.00 in average, but some of his performances deserve a 15.00 and here is why:
#PCSanalysis #YuzuruHanyu𓃵
So here we go with my top Yuzu performances in the 5 program components!
Footnote: Yuzu’s programs are quite strong and balanced in PCS in general, but there are certain skates that strike out to me in specific aspects that I’d like to highlight here.
#PCSanalysis #YuzuruHanyu𓃵
A work of immeasurable value. Thank you so much for taking all the time and effort to compile these stats! 🌸
Footnote: these stats show very nicely that high speed and deep knee bend alone are just one side of very good skating skills, but not everything.

[Thread: Transitions Analysis – Top 5 Men SP of season 2021-22]
(in collaboration with @lunnarias)
Everyone is judged with the same standards. The latest, cleanest versions of SP were used to annotate.
Basic entries, required footwork in the StSq weren't counted as transitions
Here is the promised breakdown of the composition of #TenToChiTo
(Please note: it's CO only, not PE or IN)
The analysis consists of 3 parts:
I Global concept
II Construction
III Translation of the musical phrasing
This is part I:

This is a thread about possible ways to translate music to movement in figure skating. The focus is on IN, but PE and CO are partly covered as well (9 tweets).

I think, this is a good occasion to share my general thoughts on a good figure skating performance from a musical point of view.
My former coach for ballroom dance told me that in a dance performance the aim should be an absolute symbiosis between dancer and music.

This is a general breakdown of the 5 program components (2 tweets).

Update: I decided to compile the content of the thread in two posts, so that it has reasonable length.
First part: Skating skills, transitions, performance and a detailed breakdown about the composition score with some selected examples:
#PCSBreakdown

I decided to compile and archive posts about PCS and musical analysis under the hashtag #PCSAnalysis, so that they can be found easily.
Reminder: you can find all jump slomos under #FSRotationCounter
