First glance of #peatpipeblocking in practice. Despite lack of sign. rain, re-occuring flow around blocked pipe outlet caught on timelapse camera. In picture: darker brown = wet, light brown = dry. Water has clearly found an alternative route out. @moorsforfuture @rbpmleeds

Just an update from the field. Placed the first v-weir in my catchment. UNG has reveived over 100mm rain in the heavy showers of past week, but top soil remains cracked open and pipe activity is low. To be continued. #peatpipeblocking #hydrology @moorsforfuture @peakdistrict

It has been fairly dry on the moor during the last 3 months. During fieldwork today observed raindroplets sitting on top of peat: any figures available about water repellency in peat? @wateratleeds @moorsforfuture @UniversityLeeds #peatpipeblocking #phdlife #peatland

Finally #rain and forecasted more for next week. My #peatpipes will be very happy!!! Now we can start planning how to #scaleup my #experiment at #PDNP. #peatpipeblocking level 2.0 is in reach! #nowaternoscience

Ongoing effects of #heatwave: #pipeflow has ceased completely. UNG is cork dry. WT in gully edges has dropped appr. 40cm since May. Now, one-feet deep cracks are visible in gully faces. CURIOUS to wheter these will develop to new pipe outlets. #peatpipeblocking
