While the use of #colorphotography in #colonialeducation hope to service the notion of #Heimat better than b&w, the topographies depicted tell a story of resistance & rebellion challenging the colonial narrative; like this photo of #Daressalam by #RobertLohmeyer (1907).

After #PHRC20 last night, I am excited about further exploring the teaching of colonial photography in the German Empire at institutions such as the #Hamburgkolonialinstitut seen here. The photographer I study #RobertLohmeyer wrote about #Tropenphotography & lectured there.

That was a great conference as always, camera education was the perfect choice, well done all and thank you #PHRC20
Very much enjoyed this paper (and the others I was able to tune into) aptly positioned in my day of homeschool juggle. Thanks #PHRC20
Such an interesting paper by @AnnebellaPollen on children’s photography education. Love the welli-flex camera. The kids photo archive will have their day too I’m sure. So significant. #phrc20

Learned so much from 2 days of fascinating #PHRC20 papers. Children's photos in 70s London; Irish & Italian nationalisms; C19 Japanese postcards; imperial slideshows; UN exhibits; statistical tableaux; etc, etc. Great stuff! Big thanks to @PHRC_DeMontfort for all the organising!
So happy to have presented by research on color photography & colonial education at the #PHRC20.

Great talk by @RoseTeanby about women photographers. Also, her website is a wonderful example of providing public access to history. #phrc20 https://t.co/k1ms34euOS

Really enjoyable day 1 of #PHRC20. Fascinating range of really engaging papers. Particularly pleased mine prompted a question from @PHRC_DeMontfort's Prof Elizabeth Edwards: 'Raw Histories' was one of 'the' books for me during my PhD. Roll on day 2!
