Got hold of a broken Samsung TV and took out the backlight. Very interesting effect because all LEDs are equipped with special lenses to throw out light in every direction. They do not blind you when looking into them but spread light very evenly.

I'm using x-touch mini by @Behringer as a very cheap solution for knobs + faders. -> Works without driver directly interfacing with chrome browser π
