Thinking about #Khartoum recalled to mind that Charlton Heston actually gave the best performance in the #Branagh Hamlet. Usually The Player King is a throw-away part, but Heston gives him great bits of business and walks away with the #film. #Hamlet #CharltonHeston #PlayerKing

The Player King is an absolutely nothing part; just a piece of the machinery that makes Hamlet work. #CharltonHeston really ran with it, making it the most enjoyable cameo of the film. Terrific performance in an uneven, sort of 'stunt' version. #Hamlet #Shakespeare #PlayerKing

@northernassist currently stuck on a broken down train, absolutely fuming, was supposed to be at @manchesteropera to see @IanMcKellen perform in #playerking now will miss it, £300 down the drain! 🤬 two very upset children who were supposed to be seeing their hero perform.
