What is a RESUME compared to a CV? A resume is a marketing document tailored to a specific job. It changes often - must be fluid and dynamic. Tips: -be specific (quantify!) -use action words -describe accomplishments whenever possible #ProfIsIn @ProfessorIsIn

Why do academics feel we have no skills? -we identify by our narrow expertise and thus our value -we live and die by the CV -surrounded by people with similar skills (we don’t get bragging rights!) -feedback is more critical, not positive #ProfIsIn @ProfessorIsIn

If only a small percentage of people are getting TT jobs, then that is not the norm. We must rethink our language. Define the work you want to do in a POSITIVE sense! Be aware of the negatives that you use. #ProfIsIn @ProfessorIsIn

Rates of getting a tenure track job are 4-35% and rates of tenure are even lower. But more importantly, the psychological damage this process causes is real. #ProfIsIn @ProfessorIsIn
