昨天见到了 #阮晓寰。4年多来第一次。近距离看，他显得比开庭时更苍老消瘦，因在看守所一直锻炼，皮下有肌肉层，但是人瘦成细条，骨节突出。本来有牙周炎，在看守所维生素缺乏，牙齿脱落了些，门牙也掉了。2个老人很心痛。但阮晓寰精神状态很好，在监狱的各方面条件都有改善，希望下月能见他充盈起来
🚨BREAKING: The case of #RuanXiaohuan (i.e. #ProgramThink), the most well-known Chinese dissent blogger, will hold its second trial on THIS FRIDAY (13 Dec). He was arrested in 2021 and sentenced to 7 years under the crime of ‘Inciting subversion of state power’.
1.This second trial of #RuanXiaohuan has been delayed for 1 year and 10 months. Since his closed-door trial in February 2023, Chinese authorities have deliberately stalled the second trial to ‘cool public attention’. But no matter how they try to avoid accountability, they can’t escape the day of reckoning.
2.Over the past two years, his wife #BeiZhenying’s bravery has been astonishing. From her solitary search to uncover her husband’s secret identity, to her using a loudspeaker to motivate her husband outside his detention center, and to her risking her safety in relentless calls for a fair trial. Courage is contagious. Ordinary people often reveal extraordinary resilience, unbending even under immense pressure.
3.#InternationalSupport is critical - not just to improve Ruan Xiaohuan’s prison conditions, but to create lasting pressure against all future sham trials. Global attention forces the Chinese authorities to scale back the severity of their persecution.
4.We no longer need to fear the regime’s repression. This is not a trial of ProgramThink but a trial of his persecutors: second-trial judge #XuMeihua, first-trial judges #DongWei, #SunYe, #WangZheng, and the entire #CCPPoliticalLegalCommittee.
