I should mention that unlike a lot of other #qualmeth books, I cover archival and historical methods (and other text-based) data analysis a fair amount. But it's really about all #qualitativemethods.

There are so many misconceptions about what constitutes qualitative research. In some cases, people who don't understand what qual research is, and have neg. stereotypes about it (e.g., small-n, unrigorous, biased), replicate those stereotypes when trying their hand at #qualmeth.
If you are NOT collecting and analyzing textual data with qualitative techniques, your thesis is NOT qualitative.
You may be writing a theoretical or argumentative thesis, but you are NOT writing “a qualitative thesis”.
Qualitative analysis is empirical and requires DATA.
Tomorrow I give a four-hour overview of #QualMeth. What's one of the first things on the agenda? Acknowledging the role of anxiety and mental health challenges in the research process (and more generally). (Also the most popular part of my book manuscript among UGs so far.)
So, my #qualmeth book, #RockingQualSocSci, is under contract with @stanfordpress. I'm super excited about the book and to have it with SUP, which feels like the perfect home for it. It would be pretty devastating (for me and others) if this cut really goes through. #IStandWithSUP
