Thank you so much @DebSreeSarkar. This is Salt Lake Central Park #RatherMela, isn't it? Apparently, it's going on for the last 26 years. An infant compared to the Rather Mela started in 1794 by the Ghoshal family of Belghoria, possibly the oldest in our #BelovedCity #Calcutta. An itegral part of our childhood, they continue to be a lifeline for rural artisans. My earliest memory of Rather Mela was a stuffed green parrot and some aquarium fish from the Puddapukur (dissolved now) fair. The Salt Lake one, however, seems to be slightly more posh, with mocktail stalls, momos and papri chaat 😯 (where are the papad and chhanar jilipi?) Wish someone would document how the Rather Mela are changing and what they still mean to us.

At #RatherMela now. I am that staunch Hindu who respects all other religion! My men are atheist, never to accompany me. This year, I am lucky enough to be with a visiting family veteran, who I owe a lot. Waiting to eat #bhog #prashad
