WHO South-East Asia Region resolves to strengthen vaccine confidence and uptake, tackle misinformation and remove barriers to immunization across.
Though significant progress has been made to eliminate measles and rubella, with 4 countries eliminating measles and seven eliminating rubella, persistent immunity gaps and increasing outbreaks put progress at risk, particularly in remote and underserved communities.
At the 79th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia, Member States and WHO adopted a resolution calling for stronger community engagement and action on misinformation and vaccine hesitancy, alongside practical measures to address barriers such as distance, transport costs, inconvenient service hours, vaccine stock-outs and health workforce shortages.
Every child deserves access to lifesaving vaccines. Every parent deserves accurate information and confidence in immunization services.

At the Sustaining the Last Mile: Advancing SRHR and Gender Equality for the Most Vulnerable in a Changing World side-event, one message came through clearly: women's strength was never in question. What we owe them is a health system that enables — choices supported by rights, that meets them where they are.
Senior officials from Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste shared insights from their work. Gender responsive health financing, Gender budgeting, and gender disaggregated data are the need of the hour.
The WHO SEARO Youth Council representative from Timor-Leste spoke on behalf of the Council, highlighting the need for institutionalized meaningful youth engagement in policy and programme development and peer-to-peer learning, for young people to have a real seat at the table.
Partners spoke about collaboration and allyship, because the last mile cannot be closed alone.
