Darren and I created this #infographic after a conversation here on Twitter in which a few educators shared that they teach Ss not to trust ANY info found on social media. We were inspired by the Food Pyramid concept as a way to illustrate, what we think, is a more effective...

After spending yesterday with some amazing librarians #reachingoutlibs, I'm ready for a full day of #TIE20.

1:3 - Exploring the OER Commons today and found a great resource on Miss Rumphius. This will help with a lesson I had penciled in for later in year. #reachingoutlibs
#reachingoutlibs U2A2 With my lack of technology, I’ve found my kids love watching books read on the Smartboard over me reading to them out loud. No fighting to see the pictures, no strain on my voice. Would love to create a library of videos of my own to share.
#reachingoutlibs U1A4 I think I am accomplishing the “grow” portion. My students were so used to a teacher just finding books for them, and just telling them what to read, they were not able to explore their interests and find reading materials for themselves. They’re getting it!
Thank you @MsAnnieBrock and @HeatherHundley3 for this book. As a #schoollibrarian, it is awesome to see what/how we teach (#process #curiosity #wonder) in a book for teachers! It has been a long time since I felt inclusion this way! #wyslig #reachingoutlibs

U1A4-It was nice to focus on successes. While I have much to learn and improve upon, I’m doing something right! 1-Explore Pillar/Create domain. Changed MS lib into Makerspace lib. Got a grant and went BIG! Students love tinkering/creating! #handsonfun #reachingoutlibs

U1A2- Loved Locklin’s Blog! Loled at times and felt the desperation in ship analogy! Impressed with Symbaloo! Wheels are spinning of how to use for District PD day to show what I can do 4 teachers! Weighing idea of approaching Super ✍️ FRS Pledge! Wish me luck🍀 #reachingoutlibs
U1A1-category reviewed is AASL School Library Eval Checklist. Currently not evaluated much by admin so implementing this will not only help me streamline and firm district library curriculum but will also help them recognize my focus...Excited to share w/them! #reachingoutlibs
Unit 1 Activity 3 was a bit overwhelming. There is a huge responsibility for a Future Ready Librarian. That said: I am up for the challenge and have ideas ready to start the new year. #reachingoutlibs
Unit1 A2 I have used Padlet since the Oct. meeting. It has helped with organizing. I also am looking into Symbaloo for daily assignments. I shared my Padlet with students. I’m impressed with the number of them who recognize its usefulness. #reachingoutlibs
Loved reading #NOW #Classrooms K-2 for professional development! So many great ideas in just one version of the book! #reachingoutlibs
U2, A2: I've been teaching digital citizenship to grades 4-6 the past few weeks, and it was enlightening to learn how best I could begin teaching it to grades K-2. I think making the real world and online world connections would be very helpful. #reachingoutlibs
Unit 1 Activity 2: Turning an Elementary Library into the Heart of a school. I have made strides in getting technology available and making the library a welcoming place for my students. #reachingoutlibs
Unit 1 A1 I looked at the shared infographics section. As a new librarian, I liked the visual presentation of what we do every day, and will share with my students. Today I had a perfect example of that “inquire” section. This applies to students and teacher! #reachingoutlibs

#2 Allowing technology to distract from understanding--I have some students who are more interested in design/presentation than the content. Pen & paper 1st?
What am I excited about this week? Next week. Our 3rd and 4th graders will be exploring "fake news" in the context of 1938's War of the Worlds hysteria. What made it believable? Could it happen today? Is it already? #schsdsl #ReachingOutLibs https://t.co/cvefvmERZG
