All things equal, smaller classes are preferable. But, scarce resources require tradeoffs and top-down mandates have unintended consequences.
For instance, would you rather your kid have the best teacher in a class of 25 or a mediocre teacher in a class of 18?
@queens_parents Never an @NYCSchools parent, but yet feeling entitled to weigh in on the choices #realparents make…
@SusanBEdelman @NYCSchools Good things there are #realparents donating time and money to PTAs to cover the shortfall
washing my new sheets n towels .. shoutout #realparents
my pops finally ready to let me start fixing his crib up like we talked about right before he retired .. we going shopping for bedding today
Differences between #fosterparents and #realparents: One is paid to look after you.
One looks after you for free.
One loves you.
One doesn't.
If stepparents can never be as good as real parents then how can anyone expect foster parents to be better than real parents?
Weeks before a busy primary, remember to vote for the Public Advocate, a seemingly useless position seeing what incumbent @JumaaneWilliams & lazy absentee staff do, but @JeniferRajkumar could change this. The PA appoints parents on citywide CECs so the choice impacts #realparents
@WhitneyTilson Have you looked at who runs NYCPS? The cronyism, the promotion of utterly incompetent people, the lack of accountability? And the $40b do not got to classrooms. Look at procurement and the giant contracts ($20m here, $35m there, no one will see a difference)
Talk to #realparents
@queens_parents @andrewcuomo UFT endorsement is a giant red flag for #realparents. We know how little they care about education and our kids
Jumaane Williams and his staff are lazy and useless. It is concerning as @nycpa gets to appoint people on some Community Education Councils, with picks reflecting a complete lack of understanding of what @NYCSchools #realparents care about. Hopefully @JeniferRajkumar does better
NEW: It’s 2025, but Jumaane Williams still thinks we’re in COVID lockdown.
His “Public Advocate” office? Remote.
Your message? Maybe a call back in 5 days.
NYC needs a Public Advocate—not a Public Absentee who naps.
@jimfornyc Does it?
Class size / % reading at grade level*
CS <15: 37%
CS=20: 40%
CS=25: 46%

@darrin1918280 @InternetH0F Same. I Absolutely think their daughter’s behaviors,like getting into unknown vehicles,had them worried Enough,to warrant doing this..and Honestly,having MomAndDad,BOTH THERE,Should tell her..”WeLove You,We’re Damn Sure not gonna let you go Off,only to be*Found*Later #RealParents
@chien_kwok @CECDistrict2 @FACENYCDOE is painfully trying to get parents to run for CEC elections. What kind of #realparents would want to volunteer their time to deal with that nonsense?
@Vincent_usa22 @queens_parents @QnsBPRichards For these people, it’s so easy to take 6 hours and be the peanut gallery at the PEP. No babysitter to pay, and no kids to take care of. Yet they have plenty of advice to share with #realparents about what kind of education is suitable for our kids.
The bored 70-yo private school Manhattanite telling #realparents their 6yo can’t attend their neighborhood school, and instead has to ride a yellow bus 45 min each way. She never worked a day in her life but believe her, she cares deeply about the working class
As predicted, the small class size lady (whose kid went to private school) is now openly pushing for enrollment caps on popular public schools.
She wants to limit the number of students at G&T, Specialized high schools and other desirable screened schools, and bussing kids to schools with empty classrooms.
