PERSONALLY- If I was part of the @ECB_cricket hierarchy - I would keep both @Bazmccullum and #RobKey in their roles…
I think it would be the sensible thing to do whilst not ignoring the current and ‘short term’ concerns, but learning from and working towards achieving ‘long term’ success…
There is no doubt that whatever the plan was (No pre Ashes Series middle matches, The Noosa ‘holiday’, Poor County Cricket communication / relationship, or their Batting/Bowling loads etc) - it did not work and it needs to be reviewed.
The ABSOLUTE KEY however in order for #McCullum and #Key to be able to successfully ‘carry on’, is for them to accept that it didn’t work - and for them to be open to listen and to re address key aspects on the way the team currently operates.
From the above, impactful adaptions both operationally and strategically can seriously put @englandcricket back on the track as there are some very talented youngsters in the squad…👌🏏🤞

There are always TWO SIDES though to a story - and I even felt a bit for Rob Key having in the passed been in similar situations where things haven’t quite worked out… It is though what sport is all about, and it can make one even hungrier to get back up on the horse 🐎 and to cross the finishing line once again…
Personally I’ve taken away the following from the podcast with some reflections re the #ashes25 :
1. There was indeed a plan and some collective thinking, but even Rob Key acknowledges in the podcast that it somewhat failed and didn’t work - which in my mind is called taking some accountability. 👏
2. A ‘key’ mistake or two however was clearly the lack of the correct preparation on some bouncy pitches, the opportunity to prepare with ‘pink balls’ under lights, and definitely some better mental preparation could have taken place in terms of dealing with the Australian hype and English expectations both on and off the field. It is as we all know NOT an exact science, as Rob Key and his support staff are trying to manage around 30+ players at any given time - but my gut feel suggests that there could definitely have been a bit more lateral thinking and more detailed planning to get things right. The classic question from #NasserHussain says it all in the podcast, in that Team Englands break trip to #Noosa was planned a year in advance - so why couldn’t a few bouncier fast paced preparation pitches have been planned…?
THIS WHOLE #Ashes SAGA and collapse totally reminds me of just how important ‘attention to detail’ is when planing for a huge series or even a #Cricket World Cup…! The old saying of the ‘devil is in the detail’ - is so apt, as one can have 11 of the best players in the world and 5 of the best coaches in the world, but if your ON field and especially your OFF field ‘strategies & tactics’ are not fully and totally ticked off ✅ - one would have failed to prepare, meaning one should prepare for failure…
Here’s hoping @englandcricket and @Bazmccullum DO INDEED 💪 come back to perform really well in the last 2 x Test Matches - personally I do think that they are now ‘ripe and ready’ if the #confidence levels allow for such , as indeed the BIGGEST punch 🥊 will always come from the back foot…! 🤞
