June 9, 1980 - As the camera scans down the draft list that #FrankLayden has, you see he predicts the @chicagobulls will select #KelvinRansey in the 4th position and the @trailblazers will select #RonnieLester in the 10th slot. That part is very accurate and it is perhaps that Layden had known of the rumored trade. The two teams had a "pre-arranged" trade where the #Bulls would draft Ransey and the #Blazers would draft Lester. The teams would then exchange the players and the first round picks in either 1981 or 82. #Chicago would choose the pick in 1981, and used it in a another draft day trade to select #OrlandoWoolridge in that draft. #Portland would use their part of the trade in 1981 to select #DarnellValentine, who would replace Ransey after two seasons in Portland. #RipCity #ThisDateinBlazersHistory #OTD

June 9, 1980: On the day before the NBA Draft, Utah Jazz GM Frank Layden shares his (handwritten) mock draft of all 10 upcoming rounds of the draft. If you’re keeping score, he was correct on (at least) the first 11 picks. 📺 KSL

Side note: you folks gotta learn not to use that 'C' word around my dear @TimberWolfSL and stop underestimating #RonnieLester. @KnightmareMatt looked less like a nightmare and more like cheap jump scare by the end. Amusing to no end. #DeusLoVult #Crusade @Official_NFW
