#SatcomNorm I casually announced to Trango @usa_satcom a while back that i have not completely decided what the 'build' of the upgraded satellite station will look like or how many functions etc..But whatever i decide to do I AM GOING TO MAKE SURE THAT I'LL HAVE FUN ACCOMPLISHING THE WORKS AND THAT I AM GOING TO "SPANK IT HARD"๐๐...Maybe i should explain further what i mean by "Spank it Hard" so as not to suggest or imply any interpretations of violence from anyone....NO it is all about motivation..ambition etc . Anyway i was able to quickly arrive at a game plan for both Parabolic Dishes..the 1.2 m and the BUD 2.4 m just after a few quick antenna feed tests using the feed from the 1.2 m Dish and trying it on the 2.4m dish with a feed extension to match the Focal length of the TVRO Dish

#SatcomNorm the RHCP #HRPT_BLUNT under test at 1700 Mhz trying to lock onto GOES 16 . I wanted to verify how much of a signal loss due to polarization Polarity differences would render the XRIT Decoder unworkable . GOES XRIT signal is Linear Polarized.

#SatcomNorm here is the original full length 24 turns helix mounted on the Dual-TV Rotator AZ-EL Semi-automated DIY steering system and being tested atb the time. The main complaint was that it was too cumbersome and too narrow beam width making it a bit bothersome in tracking an arc .Had to be directly on the satellite to maintain a usable HRPT SNR . I decided to retire this unit very early into the HRPT Proceedings due to certain undesirable attributes . It became a 'scary' sight to some folks

This a Italian make of a Vertical FM Broadcast antenna..They doubted me when i suggested to the Radio Station managers that Antenna would not be the correct choice for main TX Antenna .
So even though a response is "I told you so" does not really solve the issues, I get no joy from telling people ...."I told you so"
#SatcomNorm @Nooelec This is one of the #Sawbird + NOAA_LRPT 137 Mhz mast mounted LNA . This is what happens when moisture ingresses into the assembly...Rust. I've had to find ways to reduce the moisture content. I've had similar problems with the SAWBIRD+GOES Series as well

#SatcomNorm Running a few S-Band frequency adjustments to the associated hardware and software. It makes one heck of a difference being able to generate required test signals as shown here. Makes the alignment a ease.
#SatcomNorm i enacted a few minor modifications to the 435Mhz/Satnogs turnstile . The points of interest involves the top elements. I was concerned about moisture entering the 'slip joints'. So i made them a bit more waterproof and clear coated the entire assembly to slow down corrosion, due to the salty SOFLO air
#SatcomNorm #SpectrumSpy was a part of the SDR# software package which is no longer included in recent upgrades..#IDK why @lambdaprog and team have discontinued that plugin. Along with a wideband noise gen % rf bridge i was able to utilize my Airspy mini as a low-cost spectrum analyzer/scanner which i used to "Characterize" quite a few of my builds
#SatcomNorm The Stories that accompany the #HRPTBLUNT is a long and varied one that i've tweeted/documented in prior posts. In the real applied world the cons involved were the unwieldiness of the antenna as well as the narrow beamwidth that made aiming it whilst hand tracking cumbersome

#SatcomNorm it turns out that both Turnstile design antennae i purchased were manufactured in Europe. This my #Satnogs UHF 432 to 438 MHz which will be mounted on the same mast as the TA1-137. (from WIMO ) So it seems #EUnion in that regard
#SatcomNorm The TA-1 Turnstile SAT cross dipole 137-152MHz has been relocated and undergoing a series of reception evaluations. I was contemplating adding a mast mount antenna switching relays . I have a few motorola types on hand. Was desirous of a RX/TX function. Too much work for now.
