Fun fact: Parts of DUMBO and Downtown Brooklyn (mainly surrounding MetroTech and the Navy Yard) was once considered the "Black Belt" of Brooklyn in the late 1800s and early 1900s. There was even a house part of the Underground Railroad on Duffield Street
