β‘οΈ AUTUMN IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -She has a severe bite/scratch history and may display signs of confliction, overstimulation, or pet-induced aggression in the shelter environment. When she is welcoming of attention, she allows petting and handling and enjoys puree treats as a reward. Despite her positive interactions at times, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful or sensitive cat adjust to strangers. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. π₯π₯π₯π₯
I lived with children in my previous home. Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. What my friends at ACC say about me: Autumn was sitting up at the back of the kennel with her head and ears forward, focused on the assessor with a neutral body and eyes. When offering treats on the scratcher tool, she lowers her head and leans forward to sniff and then she leans back and sits up when reaching close. She leans in for cheek rubs, remains calm when petting her head, and walks forward to eat treats initially offered when stroking her body. She sniffs the tool again, leans in hard for cheek rubs, rubs her face on the den, walks to the front to greet the assessor, ignores treats offered, and then pokes her head out of the kennel to scan the environment. Pick up was not attempted in order to reduce stress. After closing the door, she eats the leftover treats. β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»

One reason medical zebras struggle to find healthcare is that there is a lack of neurosurgeons and neuroradiologists familiar with EDS conditions and what to look for. And so these issues are missed on imaging. This is a huge part of the problem. #saveautumn
