Almost a year into the campaign to #SaveTheElectric and #SaveTheCrown and we're still hitting 80-100k post views a week. And some posts still hitting 20k+ views.
The passion Brummies have for Station Street is overflowing. ♥️
@ToyokoINN_JP & @Glenbrookprop never expected this!
If Birmingham won't save the UK's oldest cinema from being closed for almost a year, and save it from @Glenbrookprop gutting it for a tower you have to wonder...
what else will the city sacrifice for "luxury" flats?
In one month, on 27th Dec, the UK's oldest cinema, Birmingham's The Electric, will be 116 years old
Instead of celebrations it sits rotting because @Glenbrookprop want to gut it for flats
We call on @HistoricEngland, @BrumLeader, @RichParkerLab & @lisanandy to #SaveTheElectric
@HistoricEngland These are stunning for sure.
You know something else that has stood for over a 100 years.?
The oldest cinema in the UK -The Electric in Birmingham. (Est. 1909) & STILL not a protected building. #SaveTheElectric
@OldStationSt @HistoricEngland Awesome! now Let’s do this @HistoricEngland After all the Electric is the oldest cinema in the UK #SaveTheElectric
@OldStationSt @Glenbrookprop Come on @HistoricEngland do your part now at least-this is a joke. The street has HUGE tourism potential @VisitBritain thus adding to the local economy -You even shared a report on it. I’ve never known an area with 3 cultural assets on it like this left to rot. #savetheelectric
Do you want to invest in The Electric? THE oldest cinema in the UK in #birmingham @VancityReynolds ? @tomcruise @BenFrancis1992 ?
It’s not even GRADE II listed by @HistoricEngland
People of #Brum love #cinema and it needs saving from property developers.
#SaveTheElectric
@OldStationSt @Glenbrookprop @HistoricEngland @lisanandy @ShabanaMahmood @BrumLeader @Cllr_suleman Come on now @HistoricEngland why the complete radio silence on why it’s not listed yet when it’s THE oldest cinema in the UK. It needs protecting from developers. pop culture heritage matters to you too right? #savetheelectric The whole of station st has huge tourism potential.
Time is now @HistoricEngland @DCMS @BFI Please #savetheelectric THE oldest cinema in the UK. At least it should have a GRADE II listing because of this surely by now? 🎬💕🎥
#cinema #filmheritage #popculture #heritage #birmingham #brum

@HistoricEngland A remarkably intact working cinema from early 1900’s is The Electric Cinema in #Birmingham THE oldest cinema in the UK (e.1909) is STILL NOT protected or listed by you. Shocking really. #SaveTheElectric #SaveStationStreet #PopCulture heritage matters too right @HistoricEngland ?
@HistoricEngland #SaveTheElectric cinema in #Birmingham THE oldest cinema (1909) in the UK. Pop Culture heritage matters too. Do the right thing and save it from yet another development company trying to erase cultural assets for apartment tower blocks &profit. YOU have the power to stop it.
@BOMlab @Glenbrookprop @SouthsideDist #SaveTheElectric @HistoricEngland Grade 2 list it before the meeting. You have the power #WeAreHistoric #Heritage #SaveStationStreet
Hands off @Glenbrookprop this is a #Birmingham heritage site & should be protected. Along with other buildings like The Crown (Birthplace of heavy metal) & TheOldRep (1st rep theatre in uk)
#SaveTheElectric THE oldest cinema in UK ⚡️
@HistoricEngland #Tourism #SabbathQuarter
Time is now @HistoricEngland #SaveTheElectric THE oldest cinema in UK @GWR 🎥
A huge cultural asset to #Brum & could be part along with #TheCrown (Birthplace of Heavy Metal) & #TheOldRep in the creation of #SabbathQuarter Station St.
@BFI @Glenbrookprop #BrumHour @DCMS #Brum
Come on #Birmingham let’s ALL get behind this & help make this a reality.

One destructive tower by Glenbrook.
