Petulant, intransigent University managers are storing up future years of resentment in a sector that only works because of the goodwill of staff who work well beyond contracted hours.

Unite UCU members have today overwhelmingly voted to take strike action in support of their two #PGRsAsStaff colleagues. 71.22% of members who voted backed strike action on a 76.37% turnout.
As Universities come to sensible agreements with local @ucu branches over MAB deductions, it's undeniably clear that those Institutions which have not reached a deal are run by rogue managers with no interest in the welfare of students or staff.

Following an eBallot of members, Strathclyde UCU have accepted an offfer from Strathclyde SMT that means we are not on strike Wed, Thu or Fri this week.
MAB deductions for July, Aug and Sept have been waived, with progress on non-pay related issues pledged by the uni.

This provides an insight into the mentality of many University Managers. Agreement could easily have been reached prior to the strikes, but they'd rather sacrifice student and staff well-being in pointless, pathetic posturing.
