It is time to remember and reflect upon Poet Ahmed #Shawqi’s timeless #poem . We live in a world where #Hypocrisy and #deceit are the #normal and #honesty and #frankness are #aberration and being #deviants One day emerged the #fox, sly and keen, Adorned in garb of preachers seen. Upon the earth, he trod with zeal, Decrying the hypocrites with fervent appeal. "Praise be," he proclaimed, "to the Almighty Lord, The Sovereign of worlds, universally adored. O servants devout, in repentance, immerse, Seek refuge in prayer, from the secular curse. Eschew the #birds, those frivolous beings, Embrace ascetic life, its purity and leanings. Implore the rooster, dawn's vigilant eye, To call us to prayer, to the Most High." Then to the #rooster, a messenger was sent, Bearing a plea from the hermit's tent. The issue laid bare, with hopes held high, That kindness from the rooster would surely apply. The rooster, wise, dismissed the plea, "O most misguided, can you not see? Convey to the fox, with his deceitful stance, Of my ancestors, who wore no crown by chance. Into the cursed maw, they were led, Deemed supreme, yet in deception bred. Hearken to the wise, their words discern, For in their tales, profound truths burn. Beware the day when the fox dons the guise, Of a preacher, his falsehoods to disguise. For when he preaches, cloaked in deceit, Know that his sermons target the meek to cheat."
